If you’ve ever burned a soy candle and noticed the surface doesn’t always cool back to a perfectly smooth finish, you’re definitely not alone.
Unlike paraffin candles, which often reset looking uniform
soy wax can naturally develop texture once it cools
from soft ripples to light frosting.
This is completely normal and comes down to the nature of soy wax itself. Because it’s a natural, plant-based wax.
The good news? None of this affects how your candle burns or smells.
At Mahé, we actually see this as a positive. A candle that looks slightly textured after burning is proof that it’s made with 100% natural soy wax, with no additives, no preservatives, and no unnecessary nasties. What you’re seeing is the wax in its purest form clean-burning, eco-conscious, and better for both you and the environment.
Each Mahé candle is hand-poured and unique, just like the islands that inspire our scents a little natural variation, with a lot of soul.

To enjoy your Mahé products at their best:
For candles
Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface on the first burn
Trim the wick to around 5mm before lighting
Avoid placing candles in drafts or direct sunlight
For diffusers
Turn reeds occasionally to refresh the scent
Keep away from direct heat or sunlight
Use fewer reeds for a lighter fragrance, more for a stronger presence
These simple steps help maintain both the appearance and performance of your Mahé pieces.

Each fragrance is designed to capture that sense of escape, refined through small-batch craftsmanship in the United Kingdom.
